About Julie

I've always loved to be creative from an early age and feel lucky to have used my artistic ability in my work. I especially enjoy painting portraits, what I really love about portraits is that special moment when I'm able to capture the true beauty and individual character of an animal or person - for me that is when the 'magic' happens! I work in many different mediums, just as happy working in oils, acrylics, watercolour or pencil dependent on what kind of image I've been commissioned to create. I get inspired by a wide variety of subjects and also sculpt & design ceramics, which have been used in kitchens & bathrooms in both residential & commercial interiors around the world. Over the years I have sold to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, worked on commissions for Liberty of London, Heals, Conran shop & The Royal Academy. I’ve designed ceramic tile collections and interiors for high end Architects and been commissioned to create many portraits.

Although I'm a qualified Art teacher I see myself more as an 'Art facilitator'. I run online group sessions and offer 1:1 appointments from my studio. I’ve taught students of all ages, from 8 years old to my eldest student being 86. My aim is to help you learn to paint and draw confidently so you can discover your true inner artist. I’ve successfully guided many students through their GCSE and A level Art exams who have gone on to achieve great results, far better than their schools expectations, some of which have even gone on to University to study Art as a degree. Art has no boundaries, and has no rules, it can be a wonderful form of expression which doesn’t require the spoken word. By simply taking part in the creative process it’s been proven that you can gain confidence and improve self esteem just one of the reasons why I love to inspire people to take part in their creative journey.
